April 18, 1958: Dodgers Play First LA Home Game

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Coming off a 3-1 win over the Giants, the Dodgers are celebrating something else Monday: the anniversary of their first home game in Los Angeles.

The Dodgers, formerly of Brooklyn, debuted as L.A.'s team on April 18, 1958 at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum.

In that game, they beat the Giants 6-5 in front of a nearly 80,000-person crowd.

The Dodgers lineup for that game included legends such as Pee Wee Reese, Duke Snider, Gil Hodges and Don Drysdale.

Of course, Vin Scully was calling the game on the radio.
