4 Arrested During Police Protest In Hollywood

HOLLYWOOD (CBSLA.com) — Four people in Hollywood were arrested Saturday in the latest police protest over the fatal shootings of black men.

Three women and a man were taken into custody for allegedly failing to disperse when ordered, according to Sgt. Chuck Slater of the LAPD's Hollywood Station.

A group of around 300 marched down Hollywood Boulevard, after starting on Highland Avenue, where a man was fatally shot by police last week. Officers say he had a pocket knife on him.

The demonstrators also were protesting the deaths of Michael Brown in Ferguson, Missouri, and Eric Garner on Staten Island.

Several hundred held a protest in Downtown L.A., which was not marked by arrests, according to the LAPD.

The demonstrations were organized by the groups Answer LA, Stop Mass Incarceration Network and Black Lives Matter. Thousands of others marched across the nation, including the San Francisco Bay Area, San Diego, New York City and Ferguson.
