Another Cold Day Is On Tap For Southern California

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Forecasters say freezing or near freezing temperatures are anticipated Sunday evening in some portions of Southern California.

The National Weather Service says gusty Santa Ana winds will develop across wind-prone areas in Ventura and Los Angeles counties Sunday.

According to the NWS, a freeze watch will remain in effect through Monday morning. Temperatures Sunday expected to be in the mid-60s by afternoon, and 30s and 40s evening.

By Wednesday, which is the official start of winter, conditions are expected to warm up with temperatures in the low-70s.

In West Hills, frost blanketed vehicles overnight, a good indication of just how cold it was. On Saturday night, shoppers braved the cold
weather, and bundled up.

"It's cool but at least it is not windy out here," said Mike Levinson, who was in West Hills. "You know, I'd rather it be raining and a little warmer, if that makes sense."

A freeze watch means temperatures may be between 29 and 32 degrees or less for at least two consecutive hours, according to the NWS.
