Annual Christmas Boat Parade Lights Up Newport Beach

NEWPORT BEACH (CBSLA.com) — A stunning light display on the waters off Newport Beach drew throngs of spectators.

Wednesday marked the first night of the annual Newport Beach Christmas Boat Parade with Grand Marshals Leslie Mann and Mark McGrath.

Both Mann and McGrath were raised in Newport Beach and rarely missed the annual tradition now in its 106th year.

"I grew up watching the boat parades and I used to go to the little Balboa Island here and set up fold-out chairs with my friends and watch the boat parades. It's just a tradition, and I was honored to be the grand marshal," Mann said.

A steady stream of vessels from motor boats to massive yachts were participating.

The parade is expected to run through Sunday.
