Angels Star Mike Trout Scratched Due To Sore Left Heel

ANAHEIM, Calif. (CBSLA.com/AP) — Los Angeles Angels center fielder Mike Trout has been scratched from the series opener against Minnesota because of a sore left heel.

Trout, who won his second straight All-Star Game MVP award a week ago, said he felt an aching discomfort while walking after waking up Tuesday. The slugger went 2 for 7 with a home run in Monday's day-night doubleheader sweep of Boston.

Trout said he felt "a lot better" after getting some treatment at the ballpark.

The reigning AL MVP was hitting .307 with 28 home runs and 57 RBIs. He was the only player to appear in each of the Angels' first 92 games.

Trout is the only player to win back-to-back All-Star Game MVP honors.
