Angels Get Catcher Drew Butera From Dodgers

ANAHEIM (AP) — The Los Angeles Angels have acquired catcher Drew Butera from the Los Angeles Dodgers in exchange for a player to be named later or cash considerations.

The Angels announced the deal Tuesday.

Butera batted .188 in 61 games with the Dodgers last season. He began his major-league career with Minnesota, but has never batted above .200 in a season.

The Angels have an opening for a backup catcher behind Chris Iannetta. They traded Hank Conger to Houston earlier in the offseason for right-hander Nick Tropeano and minor-league catcher Carlos Perez.
