Angeles Forest Fire Fills SoCal Skies With Smoke

DUARTE (CBSLA.com) — A smoke advisory was issued for parts of the San Gabriel Valley and the Inland Empire Tuesday, as smoke billowed from the 4,900-acre San Gabriel Complex Fire.

"It was like a volcano was around here and erupted," said one Duarte resident.

Specks of ash drifted into yards in Glendora, making some neighbors uneasy.

"There was a lot of ash all over my car and in the backyard and over furniture," said Melanie Galloway of Glendora.

Others complained about sore throats, burning eyes and difficulty breathing.

The South Coast Air Quality Management District warns against exercising during smoke alerts. The agency also advises people with respiratory illnesses to stay inside, and use air conditioners with the fresh air intake closed.
