Anaheim Toddler Killed By Pickup Driven By His Mother

ANAHEIM (CBSLA.com) — A toddler died Thursday after he was struck by a pickup driven by his mother, Anaheim police said.

The boy was hit shortly after 9 a.m. in the 15000 block of West Chevy Chase drive when his mother went outside to move the vehicle to avoid a ticket for street cleaning, police said. The woman had not realized that 21-month-old Octavio Martinez had followed her outside.

His mother called police, then drove the boy to a hospital. He was then taken to UCI Medical Center in Orange, where he later died, Anaheim police Lt. Bob Dunn said.
