SWAT Searches Anaheim Home For Suspect In Deadly Stabbing

ANAHEIM (CBSLA.com) — Officers who reportedly pulled over a vehicle driving erratically in Anaheim Wednesday morning discovered the woman behind the wheel was trying to take a man with stab wounds to the hospital. He later succumbed to his injuries.

Officers made the stop near Lincoln Avenue and Loara Street, Anaheim police reported.

Paramedics treated the victim and transported him to UC Irvine Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

Investigators believe the victim had been stabbed at or near a home in the 1500 block of West Edithia Avenue and a woman at the scene tried to drive him to the hospital. The relationship between the man stabbed and the woman driving was unclear.

Officers say they've been called to the residence many times before.

SWAT officers searched the home to make sure the scene was safe before detectives went in to investigate. Officers detained several people found inside.

"If the suspect was not one of those that was detained earlier, you've got a killer on the loose?" CBS2/KCAL9's Michele Gile said to Lt. Eric Trapp of the Anaheim Police Department.

"Potentially. We will wind up following up on the investigative leads that we've gathered so far, and start piecing this puzzle together," Trapp said.

He said the motive behind the stabbing was not yet known.
