Anaheim Man Gets Life Sentence For Stabbing Death Of Family Man

SANTA ANA (CBSLA.com) — An Anaheim man was sentenced Friday to life in prison without the possibility of parole for the 2012 robbery and slaying of an elderly man.

Felipe Jesus Delgado, 23, was convicted last month of murder during the commission of a robbery and one felony count of robbery.

The Orange County District Attorney's office said Delgado robbed 67-year-old Daniel Rowlett on Olive Street before stabbing Rowlett over a dozen times in the leg and chest.

The deadly incident happened on July 4, 2012.

Rowlett was transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Authorities said Delgado left a trail of blood from the crime scene to his home. When officers arrived, they indicated that Delgado was wearing bloody socks, had bloody clothes on his bedroom floor, and was in possession of the victim's wallet and the murder weapon.

During Friday's sentencing hearing, Rowlett's wife of nearly 60 years and daughter gave impact statements. They told the court that Rowlett was a man who dedicated his life to his family and was the "provider and glue that held their family together."
