2-Year-Old San Jose Girl Found Safe After Amber Alert Issued, Father Arrested
LOS ANGELES (CBSLA) — A 2-year-old girl from San Jose who authorities say was abducted by her father Sunday night-- prompting an Amber Alert -- was found safe Monday morning.
A San Jose Police Department spokesman confirmed Monday morning that 24-year-old Victor Magana and his daughter, Bethanie Carraza, were located at a gas station in San Luis Obispo County sometime before 11 a.m.
Authorities say Magana abducted her daughter Sunday night and he was believed to be armed and dangerous. He was recognized at a gas station and citizens detained him before authorities arrived on scene and took him into custody, police said.
At one point, freeway signs across Los Angeles, Ventura, Kern and Santa Barbara counties were lit up with a description of the vehicle Magana and Bethanie Carraza were last seen driving.
The Amber Alert was also issued in the northern and central California counties of Alameda, Fresno, Kings, Merced, Monterey, San Benito, San Joaquin, San Luis Obispo, Santa Clara, Santa Cruz and Stanislaus.
