Amazon To Fill 1,000 New Jobs At Fourth Inland Empire Warehouse
SAN BERNARDINO (CBSLA.com) — Amazon announced plans this week to open its fourth Inland Empire fulfillment center in San Bernardino and plans to hire for more than 1,000 full-time positions to staff the new facility.
The online retail giant, which opened its first California fulfillment center in 2012, now has centers in Tracy, Patterson, Moreno Valley, Redlands and Rialto, employing more than 12,000 full-time hourly associates.
"San Bernardino has proven to be an important part of Amazon's growth in California, and we are proud to continue creating jobs and helping support the economy here in the Inland Empire," said Akash Chauhan, Amazon's vice president of North American operations, said in a statement.
Employees at the planned 1.1-million-square-foot San Bernardino facility will pick, pack and ship smaller customer items, including books, electronics and toys.
San Bernardino Mayor R. Carey Davis said Amazon has been good to the community.
"The company continues hosting a robust public tours program, donating needed items and volunteer hours to local charities, and supporting local businesses on a regular basis," Davis said in a statement.
