Alleged Victim Of Instagram Death Warnings May Have Posted Threats Herself

SAN DIMAS (CBSLA.com) — A police investigation into a San Dimas middle school student's life allegedly being threatened over Instagram suggests that student may have posted the threats herself.

The Lone Hills Middle School student claimed to be the victim of threats over the social media service, which included such claims as "we plan to kill her," earlier this month.

That student was detained and cited by deputies after a source says she posted the threats herself.

Parents of other students say they are glad to hear that the threats appear to be over.

"I guess I'm just glad that nothing happened," one mother said. "I don't think they thought that it was that serious."

Other parents say the student may have posted the threats to get attention.

"Maybe they just want attention," parent Yolanda Gutierrez said. "They probably don't get the attention at home, and they're trying to get it through a different way."

While no charges have been officially issued, the student has been suspended for the time being.
