1 Killed In Fiery Crash On SB 405 In North Hills

NORTH HILLS (CBSLA.com) — One person was killed Friday in a fiery crash on the 405 Freeway in North Hills.

The multi-vehicle accident was reported just after 7:30 a.m. on the southbound side of the freeway at Nordoff Street, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Five vehicles were involved, including one that caught on fire. One woman was pronounced dead at the scene, another was transported to a local hospital. That woman's injuries were unknown, but officials say she is expected to survive.

Robert Angelo told KNX 1070 NEWSRADIO he was driving just a few feet away in the carpool lane moments after the crash.

"It was still popping and sizzling and going off all around us," said Angelo. "It just looked horrific."

All were expected to be reopened after 1 p.m.
