Alhambra Woman Arrested For Hit-And-Run That Dragged Man A Half Mile

MONTEREY PARK (AP) — An Alhambra woman has been arrested in connection with a fatal hit-and-run crash in January during which an 80-year-old pedestrian was dragged nearly half a mile.

Monterey Park police say 33-year-old Cecilia Morales DeToledo was taken into custody at her home in Alhambra on Wednesday.

Investigators say she was driving the minivan that struck Kwailing Hong as he was crossing the street in Monterey Park on Jan. 7.

Officials say Hong was dragged nearly a half mile into neighboring Alhambra before the minivan came to a stop. Paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene.

DeToledo is scheduled to be arraigned Thursday on charges of felony hit-and-run, vehicular manslaughter and driving without a license.

DeToledo was freed after posting $50,000 bail the same day. She is scheduled to make her first court appearance Thursday.
