Alhambra High School Students Back In Class After Reports Of 'Gas Smell'

ALHAMBRA (CBSLA.com) — Classes at Alhambra High School were back in session Tuesday after reports of a gasoline smell forced students to evacuate, authorities said.

KNX 1070's Margaret Carrero reports Alhambra police were notified around 7 a.m. about a "gas smell" inside a teacher's office at the school located at 101 S. Second Street.

As a precaution, the school was evacuated while a hazardous-materials team with the Alhambra Fire Department combed the campus to locate the source of the odor, according to police.

"We've searched every inch, every building, we can't find any more odor, we can find the source of the odor," Johnson said. "Nothing suspicious was found."

No injuries were reported.

According to Johnson, the office where the odor was reported is located directly above the teachers' parking garage, but it was unclear whether it's location played any role in the reported smell.
