Watoto Children's Choir Performs At High School In Upland

UPLAND (CBSLA.com) — A children's choir from Africa performed Thursday at a San Bernardino County school as ambassadors for the orphans in their country.

The event was held at Western Christian High School, 100 W. 9th Street, in Upland.

Watoto Children's Choir, which is made up of children who have lost one or both of their parents, performed dance routines to contemporary gospel and traditional African rhythm music.

"Through the choir's Concert of Hope, we share a message of transformation by telling the story of Africa's rescued orphans and women. We hope to reach out to audiences with the message of Christ's healing power," Gary Skinner, Watoto Founder, said in a statement.

Since its inception, 64 choirs have traveled internationally as ambassadors for the millions of African children who were orphaned as a result of HIV/AIDs, war and poverty.
