'Shield' Actor Michael Jace Charged In Wife's Murder

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Actor Michael Jace was formally charged with murder Thursday in the death of this wife, the Los Angeles District Attorney's Office said.

Jace, 51, is accused of fatally shooting his wife, April, late Monday at the Hyde Park home in the 5400 block of Brynhurst Avenue.

The couple's two young sons were in the residence at the time of the shooting.

It was unclear what prompted the crime, but police said the wife and kids had just returned home from little league practice when the incident occurred.

The motive of the shooting is believed to be domestic violence. The couple's financial problems were also being looked into as a possible cause.

Jace is best known for his role as a police officer in FX's drama "The Shield".

He was arraigned Thursday afternoon where prosecutors plan to ask the judge to increase Jace's bail to $2 million.

Currently, he is being held on $1 million bail.

April Jace worked as a counselor in the Financial Aid Office at Biola University.
