968-Acre Silverado Canyon Fire Is 80 Percent Contained

SILVERADO CANYON (CBSLA.com) — A brush fire that has torched 968 acres in Orange County was 80 percent contained Monday morning.

The fire was first reported around 10:30 a.m. Friday in the 30000 block of Silverado Canyon Road in the Cleveland National Forest.

There were more than 1,000 personnel on scene Monday as triple-digit heat was expected to cause some difficulties.

Sunday evening firefighters revised the total number of acres from 1,600 to 1,200 and then down to 968.

Full containment was expected early in the week, according to the Orange County Fire Authority.
