3 Killed, 2 Others Injured In Crash Involving Several Cars In Woodland Hills

WOODLAND HILLS (CBSLA.com) — Three people were killed and two others were injured, two seriously, in an accident Saturday night that involved four cars, authorities said.

The crash occurred about 9 p.m. and closed a stretch of Ventura Boulevard for several hours as authorities assisted the injured and evaluated the damage, Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Brian Humphrey said.

Humphrey said two of the victims were trapped inside a car that caught fire. He said bystanders used fire extinguishers and buckets of water to beat back the flames until firefighters got to the scene on Ventura Boulevard.

Details of how the crash occurred remained uncertain. At least two people were trapped in vehicles and had to be extricated, Humphrey said.
