73-Year-Old Homeless Man Accused Of Assaulting 2 People With 'Offensive Liquid'

FONTANA (CBSLA.com)  — Police in Fontana have arrested a 73-year-old homeless man they accuse of assaulting two shoppers with an "offensive liquid."

Officials believe the man assaulted the victims with urine.

Authorities said on Tuesday, around 11:30 a.m., the suspect -- now identified as Gilbert Martinez -- assaulted two people with the liquid while they were shopping in a store located in the 9900 block of Sierra Avenue.

Police said Martinez approached the unidentified victims from behind and squirted them with the contents of a plastic squeeze bottle. Martinez allegedly fled the location after the victims notified the store manager.

Officers located and arrested Martinez on misdemeanor assault charges. Martinez was issued a citation and a date to appear in court.
