Dozens Of Flights Canceled At LAX Due To East Coast Storm

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Dozens of flights were canceled Monday at Los Angeles International Airport due to a powerful winter storm battering the East Coast.

As of midday, 27 arrivals and 60 departures were canceled, according to an LAX spokesperson.

A blizzard warning was in effect for coastal areas from New Jersey to Maine. Up to three feet of snow could fall in some areas over the next few days, prompting airlines to cancel more than 5,000 flights in and out of east coast airports.

"They put us on an 8:08 plane that turned into a 10:20 plane, then a 10:30 plane, then an 11 plane, then an 11:30. And now here we are. No tickets. Stuck here for two days," said stranded traveler Kevin Donaldson.

Travelers were urged to check with their airline regarding flights before heading to the airport.
