71-Year-Old Woman Found Dead In Abandoned Mine Shaft

RED MOUNTAIN (CBSLA.com) — A 71-year-old woman was found dead in a mine shaft in Red Mountain, an unincorporated community in San Bernardino County.

Deputies responded to a missing persons report in the area of Osdick Road and US 395 around 4:55 p.m. Sunday.

The next afternoon, the victim, later identified as Sandra Jean McKinney, was discovered in the abandoned mine shaft.

Homicide investigators were called to the scene due to the suspicious nature surrounding McKinney's disappearance.
