70-Year-Old Pedestrian Fatally Struck By Alleged Drunk Driver In Yorba Linda

YORBA LINDA (CBSLA.com) —  Authorities said a 70-year-old man was fatally struck in Yorba Linda Saturday evening by a driver under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

The pedestrian was later identified as Gregory Gillaspy of Yorba Linda, according to the Orange County coroner's office.

The accident was reported at 7:30 p.m. Saturday near Fairmont Boulevard and Lorca Lane.

Paramedics rushed Gillaspy to Orange County Global Medical Center in Santa Ana, where he succumbed to his injuries about an hour later, according to the coroner's office.

The driver, identified as 37-year-old Jody Guerrero, remained at the scene. He was later arrested on suspicion of homicide, according to a watch commander at the O.C. Sheriff's Department.

Guerrero is being held at the Central Men's Jail in Santa Ana in lieu of $1 million bail.

The suspect is due to appear in court on Tuesday, according to jail inmate records.
