7 Bald Eagles Spotted At 6 San Bernardino County Lakes

SAN BERNARDINO (AP) — Seven bald eagles were spotted during an organized count at sites across San Bernardino County last weekend.

The U.S. Forest Service says bald eagles commonly migrate south to spend their winter vacations around the region's lakes, feasting on fish and ducks.

A group of eagle-eyed volunteers and agency staff participated in the count at six lakes on March 14. It was the last bald eagle count of the winter.

The total is less than half the total of 17 seen a month earlier. Experts say the decline is not a cause for concern because the peak numbers usually come in January and February.

Observers saw nine bald eagles in the same spots in March 2014.
