$66 Collard Greens Dish Sells Out At Neiman Marcus
LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Burberry coats, Armani suits, Kate Spade handbags -- and collard greens. Neiman Marcus evidently has it all!
The luxury retailer has sold out of its $66 collard greens – usually an inexpensive Southern side dish of greens simmered with ham hocks and other meats – an offering that has many online scratching their heads, and giving plenty of spicy commentary with the hashtag #gentrifiedgreens. The item was priced at $66, not including shipping, and serves 8-10 people.
I hope every one of my ancestors haunts the mess out of the person at Neiman Marcus who thought of the #gentrifiedgreens

But further exploration of Neiman Marcus' Gifts section reveals that the store known more for selling designer couture and accessories is actually making a foray into the holiday meal market, including $80 baked beans or butternut squash with pecans, a choice of sausage or vegetarian stuffing that are both priced at $85, and tamales -- $92 for 72 handmade tamales, with your choice of beef, chicken, pork or a variety of flavors.
