6 Injured In Ventura House Fire

VENTURA (CBSLA.com) — Six people were injured, including one firefighter, in a house fire in Ventura County, officials said Monday.

The fire was reported around 11 p.m. Sunday in the 900 block of Burlington Avenue in Ventura.

"The first arriving engine company encountered a two-story residential structure heavily involved with fire and several reports of occupants trapped inside," Batt. Chief Kris McDonald said.

An elderly male victim, who was in full cardiac arrest, was rescued with the help of bystanders. He was transported to a local hospital and was last listed in serious condition.

Five others were injured in the fire, of which three were transported for medical treatment, including a firefighter who suffered smoke inhalation, authorities said.

It took crews 40 minutes to extinguish the fire.

The cause was under investigation.

Damages were estimated at $225,000.
