55-Hour 'Cajon Crawl' Closures To Begin Friday

SAN BERNARDINO (CBSLA.com) — Crews will begin a series of 55-hour weekend lane closures in the Cajon Pass Friday, known as the "Cajon Crawl".

Lane closures have been taking place day and night since work began earlier this summer, but beginning on Aug. 8, five weekends of extended closures will take place on I-15 between Highway 138 and Oak Hill Road, Caltrans said.

The closures will begin Friday night at 10 p.m., with lanes reopening Monday at 3 p.m. every weekend.

The $120 million project is replacing concrete slabs in the pass that are beyond their life cycle.

Lanes will be reduced from four to two for approximately one mile.

Motorists are advised that there will be significant traffic delays for northbound traffic and are encouraged to use alternate routes.
