$50,000 Reward Offered In Connection With Rash Of Koreatown Robberies

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — The Los Angeles City Council approved a $50,000 reward Friday for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the man responsible for a series of robberies in Koreatown.

L.A. City Council President Herb Wesson asked the council to approve the reward in connection with the four robberies. They occurred on Nov. 9, Nov. 23, Dec. 23 and Dec. 30.

"Anyone who has any information whatsoever where it relates to these attacks, please contact us," Wesson said.

In the most recent robbery, which occurred at an apartment complex in the 400 block of Westmoreland Avenue, a female victim is seen in surveillance video being slammed onto the floor, kicked and punched before her purse is taken.

On Friday, at the apartment complexes where the attacks took place, many of the residents declined on-camera interviews.

"It's Koreatown. Most of the stores are open until 2 or 3 in the morning," said Vanessa, a resident. "We pretty much think it's safe here. I am concerned, but it's just so weird that it's happening now."

All four attacks occurred late at night, and police are fairly convinced the same man is responsible, according to CBS2's Dave Lopez.

The man suspected in the crimes was described by police as Hispanic, 20-30 years old, 5-foot-6 to 5-foot-8 and weighing 130 to 170 pounds. He was seen wearing a sweat shirt and shorts, according to footage.

Anyone with information about the robberies or who recognizes the suspect was asked to call LAPD Olympic Division robbery detectives at (213) 382-9460.
