50 Homes Threatened By San Juan Capistrano Brush Fire

SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO (CBSLA.com) — Authorities say 50 homes were being threatened by a 20-acre brush fire that erupted in San Juan Capistrano.

The fire erupted Sunday afternoon in the 28000 block of Avenida La Mancha.

Officials report that at least 75 firefighters have been dispatched to the fire, and were battling it on both flanks.

Firefighters later reported that they got the upper hand on the fire quickly and the threat to homes was quickly extinguished.

In addition to crews on the ground, firefighters used two helicopters. Officials said the fire was contained to about 60 acres.

No injuries were reported.
