5 Hospitalized After Pursuit Ends In Fiery, 2-Car Crash

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Authorities say five people were taken to area hospitals following a brief pursuit that ended in a fiery crash in downtown Los Angeles.

Los Angeles police Sgt. A. Mendoza told City News Service the suspected stolen vehicle, a black BMW 3-series sedan, struck another vehicle at the intersection of S. Flower Street and West Adams Boulevard about 1:25 a.m. Saturday.

The impact of the collision flipped the second car, which caught fire. Three of the occupants in that vehicle were taken to area hospitals in unknown condition.

Two occupants in the suspect vehicle were also hospitalized.

Authorities said the incident unfolded about 12:40 a.m. when officers were dispatched to a stolen vehicle pursuit at Hoover and 42nd streets.

No further information was available.
