49ers' Aldon Smith May Face Possible Misdemeanor Charge For Alleged LAX Incident

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — San Francisco 49ers linebacker Aldon Smith may face a possible misdemeanor charge following an alleged incident at the Los Angeles International Airport, officials said Thursday.

Los Angeles County prosecutors have referred the case to the City Attorney's Office for review, according to spokesperson Frank Mateljan. He said no decision had been made on whether charges will be filed against Aldon who is accused of saying he had a bomb at an LAX security screening station around 2 p.m. April 13.

The 24-year-old was arrested in Terminal 1 after he became uncooperative when airport police approached him in the gate area, officials said. He was booked at the LAPD's Pacific Station on suspicion of making a false report of a bomb threat and was released a few hours later on $20,000 bail.
