A 47-year-old man who was walking along the 10 Freeway in Monterey Park was struck and killed on Wednesday.

It happened just after 11 p.m. on eastbound lanes, near the 710 Freeway connector road, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Investigators say that the victim, identified as Manuel Gonzalez by the Los Angeles County Office of Medical Examiner, was walking in a construction zone in middle lanes when he was hit by a dark-colored car.

Gonzalez was then struck by several other cars, police said.

It's unclear how many stopped to render aid and cooperate with the investigation.

The crash caused a temporary closure of three lanes on the connector road.
