40-Year-Old Man Fatally Shot In El Monte

EL MONTE (CBSLA.com) — Homicide detectives investigated the circumstances surrounding the shooting death of a 40-year-old man in El Monte on Tuesday.

According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, deputies were sent shortly before 10:30 p.m. on Monday to the 11600 block of Rio Hondo Parkway for report of a possible gunshot victim call.

Upon their arrival, authorities located a Hispanic man suffering from gunshot wounds to his upper torso.

Paramedics pronounced the victim dead at the scene. His identity is being withheld pending family notification.

At this time, no suspect information has been provided.

Detectives said the motive for the shooting appears to be gang-related.
