4 Teens Accused Of Setting Fire At Tustin High School That Did $50K In Damage
TUSTIN (CBSLA.com) — Four teens have been arrested on suspicion of setting a fire that did an estimated $50,000 in damage to the roof of the old gym at Tustin High School.
The blaze was reported at 10:53 a.m. Saturday, according to the Orange County Fire Authority.
No injuries were reported.
A total of 35 firefighters responded and had the fire under control by 11:35 a.m., according to the OCFA.
Water polo and baseball games were underway and went on as scheduled, according to Mark Eliot of the Tustin Unified School District.
The damage estimate is preliminary and the full extent of damage and cost have not been determined, Eliot said.
Tustin police and the OCFA investigated the fire and determined it was intentionally set, according to a joint statement from both agencies.
The four teenagers, all students at Tustin High, were arrested Wednesday and the case has been referred for possible prosecution, authorities said.
The names of the students were withheld because of their ages.
