4 Suspected Gang Members Arrested In 'Knock-Knock' Burglaries

LOS ANGELES (AP) — The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department says four people have been arrested in an investigation of so-called knock-knock burglaries.

The arrests were made Monday in Pacific Palisades by investigators who believed members of a Los Angeles street gang were using rental vehicles to carry out residential thefts in which burglars knock on doors to see if anyone is home.

A sheriff's statement says investigators saw the suspects driving slowly through an upscale neighborhood in a rental car. One suspect knocked on the door of a home and peered into front windows. Two suspects then jumped over a side gate into a backyard and re-emerged with a bag as the rental car reappeared and picked them up.

Detectives confirmed the home was ransacked and deputies stopped the vehicle and made arrests.
