4 Oxnard Men Accused Of Attempted Murder In Custody

OXNARD (CBSLA.com) — Four Oxnard men were in custody Sunday after leading officers on a short pursuit last night.

According to the Oxnard Police Department, officers observed two people around 8:20 p.m. Saturday confronting a group of people standing in front of a business located in the area of Cooper Road and McKinley Avenue.

Officers explained one of the two suspects began shooting at the group of people with a handgun during the confrontation.

Both suspects fled to an awaiting vehicle, which officers stopped in the area of Donlon Avenue and Drifil Boulevard after a short vehicle pursuit.

Four suspects proceeded to flee from the vehicle on foot, but were apprehended by officers.

Authorities were able to recover a loaded handgun from the area shortly after arresting the men.

Around 10:04 p.m., a 16-year-old victim suffering from two gunshot wounds to the upper body arrived at Ventura County Medical Center for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

The victim's condition is unknown at this time.

According to police, Carlos Guzman, 19, Enrique Castellanos, 22, German Librado, 20, and Diego Guerrero, 27, were taken into custody on suspicion of attempted murder.

Officers explained with the assistance of the Ventura Sheriff's helicopter, they searched for a fifth suspect that may have been involved in the crime.

They were not able to locate the outstanding suspect.
