4 Kids Allegedly Abducted By Parents Found Safe At US-Mexico Border

BOYLE HEIGHTS (CBSLA.com) — Four children who were allegedly abducted by their biological parents late last week were found safe Tuesday at the U.S.-Mexico border.

Detectives received a call from the paternal grandmother of the two boys, ages 5 and 7, and twin 1-year-old girls, about 10:30 a.m., saying she had the kids at the border, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

The kids, who are in good health, were brought back to the LAPD's Hollenbeck Station Tuesday night, KCAL9's Rachel Kim reported.

"We're currently, right now, speaking to the paternal grandmother to try and connect the dots. To find out exactly what happened, how she learned about it, how she came to come in possession of the children," LAPD Hollenbeck Division Capt. Martin Baeza said

Kidnapping warrants have been issued for the children's 28-year-old parents, Enrique Felix and Rosa Chairez, who are believed to be in Mexico.

Felix and Chairez are accused of taking the kids from their maternal grandmother's home in Boyle Heights around 12:30 p.m. Friday, prompting a statewide Amber Alert.

The children were placed in protective custody because their father was physically violent toward them and their mother, police said.

The parents were only allowed to see their children by appointment and under the supervision of the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services.
