8 Children Suffer Minor Injuries From Fallen Tree Branch Outside Church

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com)   — Authorities said eight children were injured -- none critically -- when a tree branch fell on them outside a church in Montecito Heights Sunday.

The accident happened about 2:05 p.m. at 3170 N. Pyrites Ave., said Katherine Main of the Los Angeles Fire Department.

Four of the children were taken to nearby hospitals.

One child's injury was considered more serious than the other three. That child was taken to a hospital by paramedics, while the other three were taken to a hospital via basic life support ambulance crews, Main said.

The address of the incident is that of the Iglesia Cristiana Filadelfia Church.

A parishioner said the children were playing when the branch suddenly snapped and fell on them.
