4 Baby Penguins At Aquarium Of The Pacific In Need Of Names

LONG BEACH (CBSLA.com) — Four new Long Beach babes made their first appearance at the Aquarium of the Pacific on Tuesday.

The Magellanic Penguin chicks were born at the aquarium earlier this summer and spent the past few months behind the scenes, getting hand-fed and learning how to swim.

"We have two male penguin chicks that have entered the June Keyes Habitat for the first time," said Sara Mandell, the penguin keeper at the Aquarium. "Our other two female chicks joined the exhibit last week, so now they are seeing some of their brothers and sisters and their cousins to an extent, and it looks like they've been in the water nonstop."

The penguins need names, and the public can help with that task. Submit a name with a $100 penguin donation before Oct. 31, and the lucky winner will get to go inside the habitat, behind the scenes, to feed the penguins.

For more information on the penguins and the donation naming process, visit www.aquariumofpacific.org.
