34-Year-Old Hiker Reported Missing In San Jacinto Mountains

RIVERSIDE COUNTY (CBSLA.com) — Deputies sought the public's help Monday to locate a 34-year-old man who has been reported missing in San Jacinto.

According to the Riverside County Sheriff's Department, deputies received a call around 4:15 p.m. Saturday from a missing hiker, who has been identified as Alphonso Nguyen.

Nguyen explained to deputies he was lost in the San Jacinto Mountains, and his phone was about to die.

Authorities sent 25 search and rescue crews, along with two dogs, to assist in the search for Nguyen.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department also sent 10 search and rescue crews.

A preliminary investigation revealed Alphonso was hiking with friends at the time of his disappearance.

Authorities have located his friends, but have not yet been able to locate Alphonso.

No further information is available at this time.
