30,000 Acre Lake Fire Rages On For 10th Day

BIG BEAR LAKE (CBSLA.com) The Lake Fire burning near Big Bear Lake raged on for a 10th day Saturday but crews reported making progress.

Authorities said the fire -- which has scorched more than 30,000 acres -- is about 50 percent contained.

Flames have scorched about 47 square miles.

The fire -- first reported on June 17 -- is under investigation. Authorities told CBS2's Tom Wait on Thursday that they were narrowing on arson as the cause.

Officials estimate the cost to extinguish the blaze is about $26.5 million

More than 2,300 personnel are fighting the blaze including 72 crews, 73 engines, 21 helicopters and two air strikes.

There have been four injuries reported.

Burns Canyon remains under mandatory evacuation, all other evacuations have been lifted.
