3-Year-Old Chihuahua Mix Rescued From Jurupa Valley Dumpster

RIVERSIDE COUNTY (CBSLA.com) — Authorities say a 3-year-old Chihuahua mix was rescued from a dumpster on Saturday after possibly being dumped overnight.

The small male pooch was found about 9 a.m. at a mobile home park in the 6000 block of Mission Boulevard, according to a written statement issued by Riverside County Department of Animal Services.

The statement said animal services were called by the manager, who spotted the dog.

When Officer Tiffany Fuller arrived, she transported the little dog to a nearby shelter. The dog was subsequently examined, and appeared to be OK.

"It is a sick act to treat any animal in this manner," Riverside County Animal Services Director Robert Miller said in the statement.

Miller added, "A dog is a living creature. It is not trash. We can always work with pet owners to rehome their pet. To do something like this to a dog is despicable."

If the owner does not come forward, the dog will be put up for adoption.

Anyone with more information about this incident was asked to e-mail Riverside County Animal Services at Shelterinfo@rcdas.org.
