Several O.C. Beaches Closed After Surfer Reports Run-In With 'Aggressive' Shark

SUNSET BEACH (CBSLA.com) — Several Orange County beaches in the cities of Huntington Beach and Seal Beach have been closed after a surfer reported a run-in with an aggressive shark.

At 3:20 p.m. Thursday, the surfer reported to lifeguards that a 10-foot great white shark rushed toward him with its dorsal fin exposed just off 23rd Street in Sunset Beach.

The surfer says he caught a wave and made it safely to shore.

Lifeguards closed a two-mile stretch of water from Surfside to Sunset beaches as well as part of Bolsa Chica Beach.

Lifeguards say they plan on reopening the water at 4 p.m. on Friday unless there is another aggressive shark sighting.
