3 More People Sickened By Unknown Drug In Same Section Of Skid Row Where Others Fell Ill

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Three people were sickened by an unknown drug Saturday in the same section of Skid Row where at least six others became ill the previous night.

On Friday evening, six adult men, all believed to be transients, overdosed on an unknown substance near San Pedro and Fifth streets.

Police said three more people were sickened early Saturday morning in that same section of Skid Row. They were taken to hospitals. Their current conditions were not known.

It was initially thought the drug making people sick was Spice or synthetic marijuana, but police haven't be able to confirm that.

The CEO of a nearby homeless shelter told CBS Los Angeles Spice is a big problem in the area.

Units assigned to the area are spreading the word that a drug being circulated in the area was making people sick.
