3 Middle School Students Hospitalized After Reportedly Eating Pot-Laced Food

NORTH HILLS (CBSLA.com) — Three teens were hospitalized Monday after they reportedly ate food possibly containing marijuana at a North Hills school, authorities said.

Paramedics were sent to Sepulveda Middle School at 15330 W. Plummer St. about 9:45 a.m., said Margaret Stewart of the Los Angeles Fire Department.

Two 13-year-old students and a 14-year-old were taken for medical treatment and were stable, Stewart said.

The school later reported that the food in question was purchased outside of school.

Principal Kimberly Noble sent out an automated voice message, stating: "On the way to school this morning. a student purchased, off campus, food allegedly containing marijuana. At school, he shared it with two students."

"The three students became ill. Paramedics were called for assistance."

While parents say what happened was alarming, some have shared that they are confident, having spoken with their children about drugs.

"I don't have to reinforce it," parent Jason Robateau said. "She knows."

The case is under investigation.
