Fatal Multi-Vehicle Wreck Reported In Chino

CHINO (CBSLA.com) — Crews were on the scene of a major collision Friday that has reportedly killed as many as five people.

Officers have not released information regarding gender or ages of the victims who have died in the crash.

SKY9's Stu Mundel reported from overhead that at least three vehicles are involved in the crash. One vehicle appeared to have burned and the other two vehicles were heavily damaged, Mundel said.

According to officials, the collision occurred shortly after 9 p.m. on Pine Avenue between Hellman Avenue and Mill Creek.

KCAL9's Tom Wait spoke with a nurse on scene who attempted to save a male victim that was trapped under an airbag in a burning vehicle.

Police said they were searching a nearby field for additional victims that may have been ejected from the vehicles.

It was unclear, in total, how many victims were involved.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
