3 Kids Attacked By Family Friend's Dog In Temecula

TEMECULA (AP) — Riverside County authorities say three children were hospitalized after being attacked by a dog belonging to a family friend.

Sheriff's officials say the pit bull apparently mistook the kids playing as aggressive actions and attacked them Saturday at a home in Temecula.

The victims — ages 4, 14 and 15 — suffered injuries to their arms. One was later flown to a hospital in San Diego for further treatment.

The extent of their injuries and their conditions were not available Monday.

Officers managed to confine the dog to a bathroom. It was turned over to animal control.

A neighbor, Rachel Smith, tells the Riverside Press-Enterprise that the attack occurred while the children's parents were out food shopping. The 15-year-old had been left in charge of watching the others.
