Fire Destroys Popular Sports Bar In Fullerton

FULLERTON (CBSLA.com) — A four-alarm fire destroyed a Fullerton restaurant Sunday.

A passerby notified authorities around 6 a.m. that they saw flames at Dillon's Bar & Grill, a popular sports bar in the 2700 block of East Nutwood Avenue. It's located near the Cal State University Fullerton campus.

Within minutes, it was a four-alarm blaze. About 80 firefighters battled the flames, which kept flaring up in different spots over the course of several hours.

No one was injured but officials say the business is a total loss.

Restaurant owner Abbey Shilleh wasn't allowed inside. He said the building is "a total shutdown. But, hopefully, we can recoup and reopen."

Dillon's employs about 100 people, who likely will have to find new jobs.

"And I noticed there was a fire and I couldn't get off the freeway," said Thomas Tran, who works at Which 'Wich, a sandwich eatery next to Dillon's. Their business was also damaged. "We're probably not going to be able to open for at least a day or two."
