3.3 Magnitude Quake Jolts Malibu Early Sunday

MALIBU (CBSLA.com) —  Pricey coastal real estate escaped damage -- and some celebrities were likely jostled awake -- as a magnitude 3.3 earthquake struck Malibu before dawn Sunday.

The quake's epicenter was about 4 miles north of Latigo Point, up Escondido Canyon in a sparsely-populated section of the Santa Monica Mountains.

The nearest homes to the epicenter were along Latigo Canyon Road. No damage was reported.

The quake struck just after 4 a.m. and was reportedly felt along the Santa Monica Bay coast, and as far west as Camarillo in Ventura County and as far south as Manhattan Beach.
